Six-party talks open, focusing on denuclearization road map

BEIJING - The second phase of the sixth round of six-party talks opened here Thursday afternoon.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister and head of the Chinese delegation for the talks Wu Dawei delivered opening remarks.

The talks aimed at resolving the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula involve China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the United States, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Russia and Japan.

The first phase of the sixth round of talks was held in March 2007, which was concluded with a chairman statement.
