NINGBO, China - China women's team won two games to step closer to clinch the first Asia Cup Bridge Championship which concluded its third day competitions here on Thursday.

However, their men compatriots lost three straight games, dampening any hope of winning the title on home soil.

In three rounds of women's games, China won two rounds with a bye in the other. They downed Chinese Hong Kong and South Korea 22-8 and 25-2 respectively, increasing their lead in the scoreboard.

In the men's field, China lost all three rounds on Thursday, conceding to arch rivals Indonesia and India 119-11 and 19-11 before suffering another loss of 16-14 to New Zealand.

With eight and five more rounds remaining respectively for the men's and women's teams, China will take on Sri Lanka in the men's action while their women peers will play Singapore in the next round on Friday.
