LONDON - China's top player Li Na retired from the first round of the AEGON International Tennis Tournament at Eastbourne, England on Tuesday, due to knee injury.

Li, coming to Eastbourne with a title she claimed at Birmingham on Monday, pulled out of her match against British Elena Baltacha after winning the first set 7-6.

Thanks to her title winning feat in Birmingham, Li restored the No. 10 spot of the WTA rankings released on Monday.

The 28-year-old was the first Chinese woman to break into the top 10 earlier this year, reaching the place after a run to the semifinals of the Australia Open.
