Beckham called up for England's World Cup qualifier

Updated: 2009-08-31 10:06 LONDON - David Beckham was included in England's 24-man squad for a friendly game against Slovenia and the important World Cup qualifier versus Croatia.
England head coach Fabio Capello named the squad here on Sunday, six days ahead of their friendly with Slovenia at Wembley. Four days after the warm-up, the Italian will lead his team to host Croatia. Beckham is the only player in the squad that doesn't paly in the English Premier League. The 34-year-old middlefielder had just kicked in the winning goal for the Los Angeles Galaxy Saturday, beating that other L.A. team, Chivas USA 1-0.
