Paralympic champion leads campaign against discrimination

MEXICO CITY -- Mexican President Felipe Calderon appointed on Thursday Paralympic medalist Perla Bustamante Corona as the new president of the National Board to Prevent the Discrimination (Conapred) in Mexico, Mexican Interior Ministry said.

Bustamante participated in the Beijing Paralympic Games, where she won a gold medal at the 100m swimming and set a world record.

The Conapred is an organization created in 2003 to prevent and eradicate the discrimination.
