RIO DE JANEIRO -- In an attempt to appease their fans, the Flamengo soccer team announced Wednesday the possibility of bringing Adriano in as a reinforcement for the 2009 season.

The Brazilian forward currently plays with Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A. However, the player's contract is coming to a close and Flamengo hopes to capitalize on the timing.

The interest in Adriano playing for Flamengo did not come from the athlete. The club is the one responsible for the interest. However, we have to wait for the right time.

"In January, we will begin our negotiations with Adriano in an attempt to bring him to Flamengo," said the Flamengo team president Marcio Braga.

In the upcoming days, Braga will be traveling to Europe. However, the team president claims that his trip will be purely pleasure, spending time with his family during the holidays.

Adriano has yet to make any statement regarding the possibility of playing with Flamengo in 2009. Earlier this year, during a friendly match held in Brazil, Adriano claimed that If he returned to Brazil to play soccer, Flamengo would be his favorite team.
