Three more track and field gold from women athletes

Doha - China welcomed three more track and field golds from its women athletes on the 11th day in Doha, adding the golds number from the event to 10 before the concluding feat by men's 110m hurdles dominant favorite Liu Xiang.

Xie Limei won the ninth athletic gold medal of the Doha Asian Games for China after triumphing the women 's triple jump on Monday.

The 20-year-old Asian champion, who dethroned Chinese veteran Huang Qiuyan with a result of 14.38 meters for the title last year, secured Monday afternoon's victory on her fourth attempt of 14.37m.

Uzbekistan's Anastasiya Juravleva took the silver with 14.26m and the only other Chinese in the final, Li Qian, finished third on 13.78m.

China's Xue Fei launched an impressive charge to win the women's 5,000m final.

The 17-year-old Xue, making her first Asian Games appearance, clocked 15 minutes 14.12 seconds, ahead of Japan's Kayo Sugihara ( 15:40.87) and Indian Jaisha Orchatteri (15:41.91).

The trio ran down like a three-horse span into the final lap, but Xue hurtled up in the last few steps to shake loose from Sugihara and Orchatteri.

Song Aimin led a Chinese 1-2 finish in the women's discus final to snatch another track and field gold for China.

Song, 28, threw the discus to a personal best of 63.52 meters to take the gold, and teammate Ma Xuejun grabbed the silver with 62.43m.
