Ice Bioscience Inc., a biological medicine technology company located in E-town, was started by a couple -- Yan Li and Li Yingji, who won the “Innovative and Entrepreneur Talents Project• E-town Kylin” award on Febrary 2.

Ice Bioscience Inc. is now a mature medicine company which owns an electrophysiological new drug research platform, a high-throughput drug screening platform, and a cell line construction and culture platform. It has also successfully set up more than 60 ion channel stable expression cell models, which makes it the biggest ion channel pool in China. Yan Li and Li Yingji both studied in Germany and received doctoral degrees. They found decent jobs in Germany after graduation, and were living an ideal life in other people’s eyes. But while working in Germany, the couple deeply felt the gap between China and western countries in terms of new drug research and development, so they decided to come back to China and start their own business.

However, starting something new is never easy. The couple ran into numerous difficulties on the road to creating a new company. They had little time to spend with their families and friends, and sacrificed a lot for their dream of creating new drugs in China. Luckily, with the help of the government, their business got better and better.

Yan Li and Li Yingji say that it is their dream to make contributions to China’s development of new drugs, and they will strive to become No. 1 in this area in China and in the top level around the world.
