Siming district of Xiamen recently launched a talent community in a bid to attract skilled workers from all walks of life as well as upgrade the city's personnel system.

Cooperating with Shenzhen-based recruitment website company YL1001, Zather, as it is called, is an innovative talent service initiative aimed at gathering regional talent, driving innovation and building the city's image for talent attraction.

The Zather talent community is a crucial move by Siming district to promote talent services and optimize the personnel system to build itself into a powerhouse with the best experts, said Zhang Gu, a member of the standing committee of the district's Party committee.

"Through Zather, we hope to welcome more qualified talents to Siming and build Zather into a strong foundation and a landmark means for us to attract talents," Zhang said.

Integrating talents and industry attraction, the community focuses on the industrial development of Siming and provides talents with specialized services including employment, vocational training and talent recommendation, according to local officials.

During the launch ceremony, the Siming district government signed online agreements with colleges and universities such as Sichuan University and Chongqing University. It also secured cooperative intentions from the Chief Liaison Officers of local companies. The aim is to build a sound environment for helping talent development via the collaboration among governments, colleges and corporations.

"We are one of the beneficiaries that can recommend our talents to the community," said Tu Fang, a CLO from sportswear maker Anta Group.

Talent from the company can receive significant benefits by attending activities, such as career fairs or training courses for self-development, Tu said, adding that these also help promote more exchanges among talented people.

Zhang Haidong, president of YL1001, said: "We will provide tailored activity and constantly optimize the service, working with companies and talents and to help them find their employees or employers."

Zhang shared his hope that he would be welcoming more CLOs, talents and companies to participate in the Zather community.

"We hope to build a stage to attract talents to Xiamen and to settle in Siming," Zhang said.

Via Zather, the Siming district government has joined hands with YL1001 to carry out a graduate introduction plan, which has so far introduced 24,000 college graduates, accounting for 40 percent of the city's total.
