Gulangyu Island, also known as Qindao, has recently been encouraging people to walk and clean at the same time and has divided the entire island into six big grids and 36 small grids.

In addition, Gulangyu has been focusing on ridding itself of cigarette butts, more strictly regulating vendors, improving beaches and green belts, and more.

Such actions were originally proposed in 2015, when it was decided that littering, therefore Qindao will be prettier - to advocate waste sorting and recycling.

Zhong Nanshan, a prominent respiratory and infectious disease expert in China as well as "son of Gulangyu Island", said that Gulangyu Island had become cleaner by protecting its environment and implementing garbage sorting.
