Photo exhibition promotes 'swan city'

Sanmenxia in Henan province is expected to gain even more fame as a "swan city", now that the local government has taken measures to organize a featured photo exhibition.

Co-initialized by the China Photographers Association, the Henan Provincial Culture and Arts League and the People's Government of Sanmenxia, the exhibition will open to the public from Dec 7 to 12.

Some 3,000 animal-featured photos taken by photographers and photography lovers from around China and internationally in such places as America, France, Canada and Norway have been carefully selected and will be exhibited in three major categories. The photos serve to not only demonstrate the beauty of nature, but also promote public awareness of the relationship between human and nature.

A series of related activities will be held during the exhibition, including a photography training course, the opening ceremony, an animal-oriented lecture and a photography tour of Sanmenxia.

The Sanmenxia promotion bureau held a news conference to address the preparations for the exhibition, with reporters from various media including People's Daily, Xinhua News, Tencent and Henan Daily in attendance.
