Tianjin citizens compete to be Summer Davos representatives

More than 800 Tianjin citizens competed to become Summer Davos representatives on July 8. The candidates are from a variety of work backgrounds and ages.

The Summer Davos office, Tianjin Television, and Sina Tianjin hosted the selection together on July 1. More than 100 people apply for the opportunity every day. This year’s candidates are highly educated, 90 percent of them are undergraduates and 60 percent of them are master’s degree holders or PhDs. Among the candidates, many of them have study and work experience abroad and their jobs range from teachers, researchers to business owners and artists. The youngest candidate is only 14 years old and the oldest is 84 years old.

After the entry, the committee will choose 100 candidates from the applications. The 100 candidates will have interviews and 40 of them will enter the quarterfinals. Forty candidates will have speeches and debate competitions, and eight of them will become 2014 Tianjin Summer Davos representatives.
