The city of Shanghai held a press conference for this year’s Lujiazui Forum on June 25, announcing its opening on June 27 and its last day on June 29.

The participants will mainly include professionals from domestic and foreign financial institutions, experts and scholars from universities and research institutes, heads of financial service agencies, as well as government officials, according to the organizing committee of the forum.

The forum attracted more than 110 Chinese and foreign media outlets to the event, including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, Wen Wei Po, Reuters, AFP, AP, Bloomberg News and NHK. Senior members from some influential media agencies, such as the Financial Times, Xinhua News Agency and Hexun.com, were invited to anchor different sessions of the forum. Dragon TV, Shanghai Foreign Language Channel and Yicai Channel broadcasted some of the sessions of the forum, and Eastday.com offered a webcast of the entire 3-day event. In addition, official microblogs representing Shanghai and the event released information for the forum.

This is the sixth session of the annual Lujiazui Forum, which was initiated in 2008. The success of the past five sessions has expanded the forum’s influence at home and abroad. The heads of People’s Bank of China, the China Banking Regulatory Commission, the China Securities Regulatory Commission and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission have served as rotating presidents of the forum.

The organizing committee believed that it would play a more active role in developing Shanghai into an international financial hub.
