Lenovo, Compal projects start operation

Lenovo West China Operation Center and R&D Center have formally gone into operation in the Chengdu High-tech Zone, Sichuan province.

The operation center is expected to make 10 million computers within five years.

Currently the world's top four PC makers have established industrial bases in western China, with Hewlett-Packard, Acer building production bases in Chongqing municipality and Lenovo and Dell building bases in Chengdu.

It was also on Monday that Compal held a ceremony on the trial production of its Chengdu plant which is expected to achieve a production capacity of 40 million laptops by the year of 2015.
