Construction management organ set up for SW China scenic area

The Construction Management Committee of the "Historical Records from Hancheng, Customs follow Sima" Cultural Scenic Area was established in northwestern China's Hancheng city, by the Shaanxi Culture Industry Investment Holding(Group) Company and Hancheng Municipal Government, on Sept 28.

The "Historical Records from Hancheng, Customs follow Sima" Cultural Scenic Area covers 18.28 square kilometers, and is located to the south of Hancheng city. The area consists of the Yellow River grand band, the Records of the Grand Historian promenade band, an ancient city district, the Yellow River Ecological Zone and the History of the Holy zone.

The Shaanxi Culture Industry Investment Holding (Group) Company will take main responsibility for managing issues in the area, such as development and reform, investment, planning and construction, municipal construction, land and resource management, housing management, village transformation and so on.

The area will be developed into a world-class integrated tourism destination that consists of Ming and Qing architectural influence, history and cultural experience, Yellow River tours, agroecological tourism, the ancient city of Hancheng, Si Maqian Temple, Yellow River wetlands and other historical, cultural, and ecological resources.

The establishment of the "Historical Records from Hancheng, Customs follow Sima" Cultural Scenic Area is a great initiative to benefit Hancheng through cultural tourism development, industrial restructuring, economic growth, and harmonious and sustainable development. Meanwhile, the local living environment and people's lives will be greatly improved.

The committee also honored Luo Jianmin, and the other six villagers for making outstanding contributions to protect the culture of Hancheng.

A base to collect the folk songs of Shaanxi artists was set up in the area on Sept 28. Wan Ding, Du Zhongxin and three other artists hired by the base sent their calligraphy and paintings to the committee during the opening ceremony.

According to information released during the ceremony, the transformation and protection of the ancient city of Hancheng is to start on Sept 28.

A 500-meter-long test section of landscape will soon be sculpted and constructed by Central Academic of Fine Arts.

The sculpted landscape will launch a long scroll of history, becoming a new landmark and draw card for tourism in Shaanxi and Hancheng. It will be the largest carving in the world, creating a miracle through art and cultural tourism for China and the world.
