Intangible cultural heritage in Liuzhou

The slope meeting is mainly a traditional festival of Miao nationality as well as other nationalities in Rongshui of Guangxi province for the sake of martyrs mourning, calamity avoiding and blessing, fighting spirit inspiring, emotion communicating and collective entertainment.

It is formed by towns and villages continuously. The slope meeting group is a unique culture space of Rongshui. The fifteen slope meetings form an integrated chain with completed ceremony in each meeting. The activities have been rather abundant and of obvious primary natural quality since centuries ago.

Caidiao opera

The Caidiao was called Diaozi in the olden days in the folk and also known as “Nahaihe” or “Yihehai” due to the lining words like “Naheyihehai” in the singing.

Caidiao opera is a Chinese folk art form combined by four tunes in Ming dynasty. Rooting deeply between rural area and laboring people, a local opera style with funny content and lively form were shaped.

Before liberation, Caidiao opera began to move toward to decline since the end of Qing dynasty while it reappeared vitality after liberation. The “Liu Sanjie” created by Liuzhou at the end of 1950s and 1960s, swept the whole country and also was adapted into a movie on the screen. After the reform and opening, the proportion imbalance of the cultural and economic in addition with the changes of concept speeds the decline of the Caidiao, which causes faulting of skill inheritance and crisis of no heirs.
