Chengdu proposes tourism alliance of sister cities

The 2011 Week of Chengdu’s International Sister Cities, the largest ever meeting of delegations from the governments of Chengdu’s sister cities around the world, opened in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan province, on Thursday.

The 4-day event, with a theme of “inter-city cooperation for a better life,”is participated by delegations from 27 sister cities of Chengdu. Celebrations, round-table meetings, forums, performances, photo shows and various activities are held during the event.

The governments of Chengdu, Volgograd of Russia, Flemish Brabant province of Belgium and County of Fingal of Ireland will sign agreements on establishing sister-city relationship.

The governments of some 10 cities, including Chengdu, will discuss the proposal on forming an alliance to promote tourism among the cities.
