815 stamps issued for Shanghai Expo

SHANGHAI - How many stamps are there in the 2010 Shanghai Expo? The answer is, according to Xinhua News Agency's statistics, 815 in total.

In a special Expo journal named Expo Forever edited by the news agency and published by the Shanghai People's Publishing House on Dec 15, 815 stamps including over 200 pavilion stamps, special day stamps and other memorial stamps are collected.

Since the organizer of Montreal Expo presented stamps in 1967, releasing stamps has become a tradition for expo organizers and collecting such stamps thus an important part of Expo attractions.

During the Shanghai Expo, an Expo passport carrying all the pavilion stamps was sold as high as 6,000 yuan each on the website.

The Expo North Polar memorial stamp is for the first time to be released in the journal which memorizes China's fourth scientific exploration to the North Polar in August when the Shanghai Expo was going on. Also included are some special stamps such as the Little Mermaid stamp, octopus Paul's stamp and the Spain Pavilion's animated giant baby Miguelin Stamp.
