Small power plants closed to save energy

China pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions as it unveiled its first climate change action plan in early June. China has closed down small thermal power plants with total power generating capacity of 5.5 million kilowatts by now, completing 55 percent of the country's goal for this year, Xinhua reported.
