chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-07-04 20:41

The US spying on its Western allies reflects ingrained mistrust in their relations, says an article in the 21st Century Business Herald (excerpts below).

The German weekly magazine Der Spiegel exposed details about the US spying on European Union countries. This is behavior reminiscent of the Cold War

According to Der Spiegel, the US spying on the EU has gone far beyond the fight against terrorism.

The British newspaper the Guardian also carried articles showing the US spying on economic targets in the EU for the sake of commercial advantage.

From "Watergate" to "Prismgate", the world sees how the US government treats others and practices its universal values.
