S. Korean Jang breaks world records, wins women's over 75kg gold

BEIJING -- South Korean ace lifter Jang Miran broke the world records of snatch, jerk and total of the women's over 75kg class, claiming the title at the Beijing Olympics on Saturday.

Snatching 140kg, one kilo more than the world record made by Chinese Mu Shuangshuang in 2006 Doha Asiad, Jang jerked 183kg in her second attempt to shatter the jerk world record of 182.5kg set by Chinese Tang Gonghong in Athens Olympcs, and subsequently broke the Tang-made total record of 319kg in Athens.

One minute later, Jang jerked 186kg in her third attempt, refreshing the jerk and the total world records by herself again.

Olha Korobka from Ukraine took the silver with a total of 277kg, while Mariya Grabovetskaya from Kazakhstan got the bronze with 270kg.
