BEIJING - World champion Tyson Gay failed to qualify for the Olympic men's 100 metres final after finishing fifth in his semi-final on Saturday.
The American clocked a time of 10.05 seconds in the second semi-final won by Jamaican Asafa Powell.
Jamaican Usain Bolt, the world record holder, was the fastest qualifier.
