Powell is confirmed for a 100 metres in Stockholm on July 22, his agent said, while Bolt is planning to run there as well, Bolt's coach told Reuters.
"Asafa is ready to run to Usain, and if both are there, that would be great," Powell's agent, Paul Doyle, told Reuters at the US Olympic trials on Wednesday.
Glen Mills, Bolt's coach, said he could not confirm a meeting between the world's two fastest sprinters.
But Mills said via telephone from Kingston that Bolt's schedule called for a 100 metres in Stockholm as part of a three-race build-up to Beijing.
Bolt, whose world record is 9.72 seconds, easily beat Powell in last weekend's Jamaican championships and Olympic trials. But both said the race, in which Bolt ran 9.85 seconds and Powell 9.97 seconds, should not be considered a showdown.
Bolt will also run two 200 metres races before Beijing, in Athens on July 13 and London on July 25-26, Mills said.
The coach insisted no decision had been made on whether the world 200 metres silver medallist would compete in both the 100 and 200 at the August Olympics or just the 200.
"We will wait until August," Mills said.
