Yang updated the audience on the latest progress in the preparatory work for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, including venue management, the arrangement of international and Chinese technical officials, competition and training venues, competition schedule, sport equipment, meteorological conditions for the Olympics and the environment. A promotional film shown to the audience received positive reactions.

Founded in 1967, GAISF groups together the International Sports Federations and various associations with the aim of defending world-wide sport, becoming better informed and making themselves known, and cooperating and coordinating their activities. Its aim is to create a forum which brings together all the sports bodies once a year for an exchange of views on subjects of common interest.
