Dr. HO and his party were in Beijing to attend a signing ceremony of an arrangement on equestrian competition of the 29th Olympic Games and 13th Paralympic Games.

Extending his appreciation to various circles of Hong Kong SAR for their long-standing support to the preparatory work for the Beijing Olympic Games, Liu said he believed that the arrangement will lay a solid foundation for the preparation of Olympic equestrian events.

Holding successful equestrian events is a common wish and responsibility of Beijing and Hong Kong, said Liu. BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad) will continue to abide by the principle of "One Country, Two Systems," fully respect the system and laws of Hong Kong, and enhance cooperation with the government of Hong Kong SAR, the equestrian committee and relative agencies to ensure success of equestrian events, he added.

Liu is also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.

Present at the meeting was Chen Zhili, state councilor and BOCOG first vice president, and Tung Chee Hwa, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
