Ninglang Luguhu Airport expected to open by end 2015

The Ninglang Luguhu Airport, near Lugu Lake, in Yunnan province is scheduled to go operational by the end of 2015, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has reported, which is good news for the lake area, a popular tourist destination in recent years but one that is sorely lacking in transportation which in turn affects development.

So, the local government put 1.19 billion yuan ($19.21 million) into building the airport, with work starting on April 24, 2013 in accordance with 4C airport standards. It will be a link to most Chinese cities and is capable of handling the Boeing 737 aircraft, and 450,000 passengers annually.

Lugu Lake sits on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan provinces in a mysterious land with charming sceneries and a unique matriarchal culture.
