Heavy snow blocks ways to Lugu Lake

According to the Lugu Lake administration committee, the area was hit by heavy snow on the night of January 9, leaving severely frozen roads. The roads to Lugu Lake will remain closed until it clears up. Meanwhile, shuttle buses from Xichang to Lugu Lake and Muli were suspended.

If you have to enter Lugu Lake during the critical period, there are two alternative ways to arrive. One is to take provincial highway 307 in Yanyuan county of Liangshan prefecture, Sichuan province, and the other is to take the highway in Ninglang county of Lijiang, Yunnan province.

Yanyuan county and Lijiang were struck by heavy snow since January 9. The heavy snow has caused the roads to freeze. For the sake of safety, two-way traffic control has been implemented in roads from Sichuan and Yunnan province to Lugu Lake since the morning of January 10. Tourists are banned from entering or leaving Lugu Lake, and shuttle buses from Sichuan and Yunnan to Lugu Lake are suspended.

For now, it remains unclear when the traffic will be restored.
