China's "Spring City" of Kunming launched its "Rose Festival – Fragrant Travelling" event in Bajie town on April 11.

The event will run until mid-May to include the best blooming period of most roses between April 20 and May 5.

Visitors can pick their own roses during the festival and have the opportunity to craft rose-flavored cakes and rose soap. A snack street has also been set up at the festival to allow visitors to sample different specialties from the region.

A direct bus line running between central Kunming and Bajie has been opened to make transportation to the event more convenient. The bus leaves the urban area at 8:30 and returns from Bajie at 16:00. Return bus tickets cost 30 yuan ($4.63).
