The equipment manufacturing industry in the Urumqi High-tech Industrial Development Zone mainly produces machinery used in petrochemical fields, coal mining and agricultural production.

Over a dozen manufacturing enterprises are situated in the zone, which features the 1.5-billion-yuan ($230.21 million) Xinjing Xinhuaguang Boiler Production Base. The base was co-founded by Wuxi Huguang Boiler Company, China Hi-Tech Group’s Jingwei Textile Machinery Co Ltd and Shanghai Redaohe Trading Company. Haier Group also invested 1.3 billion yuan to build an industrial park in the zone.
