Series reports on Urumqi State High-tech Industrial Zone

The Urumqi State High-tech Zone, according to its management, has always tried to use people's livelihood as its standard and deal practically with the things that its people care most about, such as employment, housing, transportation, education, health care, and insurance. It has spent 5.84 billion yuan ($954.26 million) on their livelihood and society, by constantly improving living conditions, improving the environment, and promoting overall prosperity.

It has set up 65 standard community vegetable and foodstuff shops to provide greater convenience for its people AND has also improved its transportation system.

In 2012, when the city of Urumqi reworked its heating system, replacing coal with gas, using cleaner energy for 35.62 million square meters, or 30 percent of its project, which is continuing this year.

Qiu Shuhua, its Party secretary, has posted the requirements for improving the urban environment and has made the management the key to improved livelihoods. In 2012, the zone completed 12 old infrastructure projects.

It has also been improving its employment and social security work and, since 2011, has created job opportunities for 45,200 people and spent more than 10 million yuan on a Human Resource market, while improving public services by combining the development of medical services, education and sanitation. In 2012, it put 468 million yuan into an education fund, and improved the infrastructure at 32 schools. it also promoted disease prevention. Zhu Hailun, Urumqi’s Party secretary, says that their aim is to improve people's lives overall.
