Russian university delegation visits Karamay

A delegation from Kazan (Volga region) Federal University, Russia's second oldest university, visited Karamay in northwest Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on May 25.

Delegation members included school leaders and experts on petroleum geology research, as well as staff members from Russian petroleum giants TATNEFT and Lukoil.

Denis Nurgaliev, vice president and director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, said the university visited Karamay last October and has developed a cooperation relationship with Xinjiang Branch Force New Technology Development Co Ltd and Southwest Petroleum University.

Zhao Wenquan, secretary of Karamay municipal committee, said, "The Karamay government will fully support Karamay companies to go out and further cooperation between Kazan (Volga region) Federal University, Xinjiang Branch Force New Technology Development Co Ltd and Southwest Petroleum University."

Denis also suggested that Karamay develop a friendly city relationship with Almetyevsk, an oil city in Russia, in order to seek deeper cooperation on education and the oil industry. He invited Karamay to send a delegation to attend a seminar which will be held in Kazan in June.
