Karamay signs partnership agreement with oil cities group

Christine Sagen Helgø, the mayor of Stavanger, Norway, and executive chairman of the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP), and Andy Icken, deputy mayor of Houston, Texas, and WECP’s secretary-general, signed an official partnership agreement with Karamay Deputy Mayor Ding Youming, to cooperate on education, culture, medical care, and the economy with member cities of WECP, in Houston on May 5.

 

On May 6, the delegation held talks with the chairman of Harris Health System, and David Lopez, executive chairman and CEO of Harris Health System, and the associate dean of Ben Taub General Hospital, among others in charge of nursing and the pharmacy. Karamay central hospital’s president Ye Zhou and Lopez signed a letter of intent to build a friendship hospital to strengthen collaboration in medical skills training.

 

WECP is a nonprofit formed by 20 oil cities all over the world, founded in 1995 and based in Houston, US. Karamay city became a member of WECP in 2013.

 

Harris Health System, previously the Harris County Hospital District (HCHD), is a governmental entity with taxing authority that owns and operates three hospitals and numerous clinics throughout Harris County, Texas, which includes Houston. The entity's administrative offices are in Houston.

 

Ben Taub General Hospital is a level I trauma center with 650 licensed beds. It is located inside the Texas Medical Center, one of the largest medical complexes in the world, and is staffed by faculty, residents, and students of Baylor College of Medicine.

 

Lyndon Baines Johnson General Hospital is a 332-bed general hospital with a level 3 trauma center located northeast of downtown Houston. It is staffed by faculty, residents, and students from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
