Shenyang promotes culture, tourism at global travel expo

The China International Travel Mart 2019 was held in Kunming in southwestern Yunnan province on Nov 15-17, where Shenyang, the capital of northeastern Liaoning, promoted its culture and tourism to the world.

Initiated in 1998, the China International Travel Mart has developed into the largest-scale and most influential tourism expo in the Asian-Pacific region.

This year’s event covered an exhibition area of 90,000 square meters featuring 3,866 stands, with 75 countries and regions from around the world promoting their tourism and culture.

The Shenyang culture, tourism, radio and television bureau made many preparations for the event.

Representatives from the bureau, the Shenyang Palace Museum, Marshal Zhang’s Mansion Museum and cultural and tourism institutions in Shenyang participated in the event -- promoting Shenyang through videos, presentations, interactions and distributing publicity materials.

Nine tour routes in Shenyang were promoted at the expo, with themes on its prehistoric culture, culture during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), culture during the Republic of China (1912-1949), anti-war history, revolutionary culture, industrial culture, ecology and urban civilization and intangible cultural heritage resources.

The bureau also pursued further exchanges with Beijing, Nanjing and other partner cities. Shenyang tourism companies also sought cooperation with international exhibitors.

Officials said the event helped improve Shenyang’s international profile and allowed more people to get to learn about Shenyang’s history and culture.
