A very good cause fired up around 2,000 kids and their parents who took part in a fun run in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Aug 18.
The event was hosted by McDonald’s China and supported by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, aiming to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House -- a global charity project serving as a 'home away from home' for families of sick children who leave their hometown to get treatment. While a sick child is receiving treatment, family members can enjoy the facilities and have free accommodation at a Ronald McDonald House, which is always situated close to the hospital.
The first Ronald McDonald House in the Chinese mainland went into use in Changsha, Hunan’s provincial capital, in January 2016. It is only five minutes’ walk from Hunan Children’s Hospital. To date it has helped for over 500 sick children and their families.
Initiated in 2014, this year’s national running event is in its six season and is underway in 16 cities -- including Beijing, Shenyang, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Suzhou, Dalian, Harbin and Shanghai, -- with the participation of some 45,000 runners.
