2016-04-20

The Information Office from Shandong provincial government held a press conference on March 31 to announce to the public the progress of key inheritance and innovation projects of its traditional Qilu culture.

Qilu, the name of Shandong province in ancient times, boasted a splendid civilization and left a valuable historic legacy.

The key projects selected consist of seven categories ranging from constructions of Confucius architecture, traditional literature preservation to international culture exchanges.

Among them, some projects focus on the construction of facilities where people can experience and learn more about Confucian culture, such as the Confucius Academy Headquarters, Confucius Museum and Nishan holiday resort.

They also made great efforts to compile traditional literature and build a community at Nishan Academy to popularize Qilu traditional culture.

The government will also create a website and TV channel to produce dedicated programs to further conduct culture exchanges, and establish various foundations, with which individuals, government and society can be jointly engaged in culture preservation.

Recently, the city of Qufu and Zoucheng set up a demonstration zone for the development of traditional culture.
