2014-04-18

Tai'an city, located at the southern foot of China's most famous sacred mountain, Mount Taishan, saw a booming tourism industry during this year's three-day Tomb-sweeping Day holiday.

The Taishan District of Tai'an reaped gross tourism revenue of 278 million yuan ($44.84 million), a near 20 percent rise from the same period of last year. The Taishan scenic spot attracted a total of 77,000 tourists from April 5-7, up 14 percent year-on-year, and collected 9.34 million yuan from admission ticket sales, up 12 percent year-on-year.

Also, both the number of tourists and gross revenues of the urban tourism sector of Tai'an set new record highs in the same period, with eight most well-known sightseeing and amusement spots attracting 120,000 people, contributing 15.66 million yuan in revenue.

Rape flowers, peach blossom and pear blossom were among the other major attractions in Tai'an during the holidays, as the Dongping Rape Flower Festival received 25,700 tourists on a daily basis.

This year's Tomb-sweeping Day fell on April 5 and Chinese enjoyed three days off from April 5-7.
