The curtain rose on the Third Mount Tai Art Festival with a large-scale concert of traditional Chinese folk music at the Taishan International Convention Center in Tai'an, Shandong province on Sept 6.

Lasting through the end of October, the art and culture extravaganza will feature a series of exciting performances, exhibitions, academic seminars and mass cultural activities taking place in venues across the city.

The opening concert was staged by the Modern Chinese Orchestra of Shandong Provincial Song & Dance Theater, and included virtuoso performances of classical Chinese folk songs such as Long Teng Hu Yue (Dragon Rising, Tiger Leaping), Fan Hua Si Jin (Flowers Blooming like a Piece of Brocade) and Yi Zhi Hua (A Flower).

Established in 2015, the annual event is organized by Tai'an Federation of Literary and Art Circles. It has become one of the biggest cultural activities in Tai'an.
