An expressway connecting Shanxi province's Yu and Wutai counties has been put into operation, according to xinhuanet.com on June 27.

The road is expected to cut travel times from Jinzhong and Yangquan to Mount Wutai scenic spots from five to two hours.

This 75-kilometer four-lane highway, which started construction in 2011, stretches across 35 villages.

The road carries an 80 kph speed limit and has three service stations.

According to the transport department of Shanxi province, this new expressway will play an important role in relieving local traffic pressure, integrating the tourism resources of two cities, as well as promoting economic and tourism development for districts along the road.
