With agriculture as one of its main industries, Pingyao county has been reforming its local agricultural industry since 2017.

Local authorities took the decision to reduce the county's corn planting area, cutting it from 35,333 hectares in 2016 to 32,000 hectares today. And with the extra space created, the county has been able to grow a new crop, bringing in more than 30 million yuan.

The county's increased profits are all down to a new type of planting technique used in Pingyao since it signed an agreement with Sinochem Agriculture Holdings on Dec 26, 2018, leading to new methods of planting being implemented in Ninggu, Xiangle and Zhongdu towns. The towns were chosen as they sit on flat land and are well irrigated by the Fenhe River, making them ideal for growing crops.

As a producer of agricultural products and a service provider, Sinochem Agriculture Holdings aims to produce top-quality crops fetching a good price. And the firm promotes an agricultural industrial chain right from farmland to a consumer's plate.

The company offers services such as seed selection, intelligent farm chemicals preparation, agricultural machinery and farmer training. In 2019, the company plans to establish modern agriculture demonstration farms in the three towns and develop a 2,000-hectare demonstration farmland to plant spring maize in partnership with the Pingyao government.

Sinochem Agriculture Holdings, with modern agricultural planting technology as the main part of its business, is a State-owned agricultural company with the most advanced agricultural inputs and agricultural services in China, ranking 98th among the world's top 500 enterprises in 2018.
