A pioneering figure in the French New Wave film movement, French filmmaker Jean Pierre Melville (1917-1973) is one of the biggest names and most influential figures in the history of cinema. He is well known for his minimalist film noir crime dramas.
A selection of 10 of Melville’s films, which have been restored to their former glory, have been on show during Pingyao International Film Festival.
Pingyao Wantuo
Wantuo, a type of noodle from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), is one of Pingyao's local snacks with a long history.
