A new media development summit for representatives from regional media in Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan provinces was held in Pingyao county on Dec 3, to discuss the future development of new media in North China.

The summit aimed to improve the level of newspaper operations and promote Pingyao through sharing experiences of running county and city-level newspapers in the four provinces.

Media workers from the leading local and national press organizations, such as Huo Ke from Xinhua News Agency, and Gong Hai from Toutiao.com, were invited to deliver speeches on new media –– a digitalized form of traditional mass media.

More than 100 delegates from some 60 media organizations in counties and cities of the four provinces took part in the event, working together to boost their readership by taking advantage of new technologies.
