Datong city in Shanxi province introduced a new energy car sharing service on March 1 to boost the public transport system.

Residents can rent GoFun new energy shared cars by downloading an app on their phones and pay fees through Alipay, WeChat or credit cards.

Currently, 10 GoFun new energy shared cars are available in parking lots near Datong Railway Station, Datong No 4 Secondary and High School, the east gate of Datong Fifth People’s Hospital and at the east gate of the Datong Government building. Another 10 cars will be put into service later in March.

All shared cars in service are insured and there are staff members responsible for their daily maintenance, according to Qi Guangzhi, director of GoFun.

GoFun has also launched a special insurance package for handling accidents. For small defects and scratches costing less than 1,500 yuan to repair, the user phones the insurance company and does not pay. For bigger accidents the users pay 20 percent of the loss.
