The Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) launched a medical training session targeting rural doctors in Shanxi province in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, on Dec 10, with 107 rural doctors from across the province receiving the 15-day training.

The training consists of prevention and control for common diseases in rural areas, rational use of medicines, emergency rescue and care as well as related medical laws and regulations.

The 44-year-old An Jianwei who works in a 10-member clinic in Beiyukou village, Wenshui county is responsible for health care of some 3200 local residents and has few opportunities to get systematic and professional medical skills training. For him, instruction from top medical experts during this training session will directly benefit villagers he is serving.

The China Red Cross Foundation has joined forces with State-level medical training institutions and companies that care about the improvement of Chinese farmers' medical and health conditions in launching a village doctor training program, with 84 sessions having been conducted and more than 8,000 rural doctors nationwide having been trained since 2006.

In addition, with the support of the China Red Cross Foundation, the number of Pok Oi Health Centers completed and under construction in Shanxi province has risen to 55, giving more villagers access to better medical services.
