Xu Ning (middle) serves a meal to visitors in Luguzui village, Huangzhai town, Yangqu county, Shanxi province, Oct 27. Once a restaurant owner in the county seat of Yangqu, Xu Ning went home in the winter of 2017 and decided to try and make a living by opening a farm stay. Xu and his wife Wang Lamei now offer a full hotel service to visitors, providing comfortable bedrooms and rustic, home-cooked meals to tourists looking to escape city life. His family is one of several local households offering farm stays, and after more than eight months of operations, Xu's farm stay has brought in income of over 200,000 yuan ($28,709.60).
