A folk performance called datiehua (spray molten iron) is given in Datong city, Shanxi province, Feb 8. The traditional show, with a history dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), is a Spring Festival celebration in Shanxi. Performers spray molten iron reaching temperatures of up to 1,700 Celsius into the air with specials tools filled with hot iron liquid. The molten iron sparks like fireworks. [Photo/Xinhua] |
