Shanxi coal exports increase in price and quantity

Shanxi exported more coal and at higher prices during the first three quarters of 2017, according to the latest figures by Taiyuan customs.

From January to September, the province exported 29,000 tons of coal, representing year-on-year growth of 140 percent, making up 0.4 percent of national coal exports, which reached 6.6 million tons.

The coal was sold at an increased price of 1282.1 yuan ($193) per ton, representing a 31.4 percent increase compared to the same period of previous year –– earning total revenues of 40 million yuan.

The exports were mainly made up of unformed coking coal which was transported to countries like South Korea and India. Meanwhile, local State-owned companies dominated coal exports during the first three quarters with coal exports of 26,000 tons, accounting for 90.3 percent of the province’s coal exports.
