The city of Datong started this year's China (Datong) Yungang Culture and Tourism Festival, the night of Aug 8, getting everything in place for the opening ceremony, Datong Evening News reported on August 8.
The opening ceremony of the two-month event will be held at the South Wall of old Datong, with many celebrities taking part. The Yungang Culture and Tourism Festival joins several other events being hosted by Datong this year, such as an international auto festival and an international sculpture exhibition and music festival, and is helping with a new development strategy of to make the historic city an energetic place.
