Fruit and flower exhibition gets underway in Chenshan

The annual fruit and flowers exhibition opened at Chenshan Botanical Garden on Sept 28 and will run to Oct 21, attracting large amounts of families to enjoy collections of various fruits, vegetables and flowers that are grown in the autumn time.

This year's exhibition features eight themes, including autumn feast, pepper kingdom, vegetables, animals in Alice in Wonderland, a sunflower maze, a worm-shaped tunnel and colorful fruits.

A giant pumpkin weighing in at 135- 140 kilogram is displayed in the "Autumn Feast" area. In the "Pepper Kingdom" area, some special solanaceae plants are on show including the world's hottest pepper "Death of Calona".

Additionally, organizers have also decorated the garden with animals from the famous fairytale film Alice in Wonderland such as the White Rabbit.

Visitors also have the chance to participate in a party themed around Alice in Wonderland, featuring activities such as fruit and vegetable picking and live music.

Transportation: Take metro Line 9 to Dongjing Station then transfer bus No 19 to Gate No 1; take bus No 95 to Gate No 3.

Ticket price: 60 yuan ($ 8.7) per person; Senior citizens in 60 – 64 years old costs 50 yuan per person; people above 65 years old and children under 6 years old are free.
