An international drone competition will be hosted at Moon Lake Sculpture Park in Sheshan, Songjiang district, Shanghai on Nov 18-19.

The first drone racing contest was held in the US in 2014, during which contestants wearing VR glasses controlled their machines in high speed flight through FPV (First Person View), guiding the drones through various arches, dart flags and other obstacles. The first drone to finish the course is the winner.

The drones can reach a top speed of 280 kilometers per hour. The controllers wearing FPV glasses feel like they are flying themselves on a plane, so the contest has also been dubbed "F1 in the air".

In addition to the contest, a series of flight shows including aviation model, drone and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) shows will also be held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Aviation Model Association.
