Songjiang district of Shanghai boasts a long history and a brilliant culture. It was first designated as a county in 751 during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), when it was called Huating. The famous land of milk and honey south of the Yangtze River has also been known as Yunjian, Rongcheng and Gushui over the centuries.
But contemporary Songjiang has embraced rapid development and change during the last two decades, so a local photographic association invited a group of professional photographers take part in a special project to capture the county's distinctive beauty.
The result is a collection of 100 photos that portray a vivid, modern Songjiang shown from the point of view of ordinary residents.
This collection of unforgettable memories, natural scenes and slices of life in Songjiang have been on display in Shanghai Yuehu Sculpture Park since Nov 26, and will remain on show till Dec 26.
